Abstract
During the late Ming Dynasty while Zen was at its time of revival, all monks were tended to track their origins back to Zen Buddhism due to the genealogy of Zen Buddhism was once suspended in Middle Ming Dynasty. However, this rootseeking act to prove its own legitimacy in Zen Buddhism had leaded to a severe disputation among monks. The best known was the sect disputation between Lingji and Caodong, and the dharma disputation between Miyun Yuanwu and his discipline Hangyue Fazang. Due to this inheritance disputation in Caodong was less discussed in academia, this article aims to analyze the relations between Wuyi Yuanlai (Master of Boshan Sect), Yongjue Yuanxian (Master of Gushang) and Juelang Daosheng (Master of Dongyuan) by using their analects so as to agitate the esoteric unrest inside Caodong during the late Ming Dynasty.
